On the weekend of August 14-16, 1998 we had our first family campout at Camp Blanding with the whole new leadership. A total of 8 families showed up including 10 parents and 10 adults and we all had a great time.
Friday was spent waiting for all the families to show up while the boys played and had a great time in the water all day. That night was spent around the campfire listening to all things, the Jaguars game.
Bright and early the next morning Cubmaster Joe showed up at around 6:30. After showers, breakfast, and opening ceremony, we had a 2 mile hike. Right as we were ready to leave Assistant Cubmaster Fred showed up from having to stand duty the night before. During the hike, we all stopped every half mile for a water break since it was already 85 degrees. Although alot of the boys complained they were tired, they sure had enough energy to run when they saw our campsite again. Afterwards while Cubmaster Joe, Mr Glenn, and Mr Leo went to get some canoes we all got changed to go swimming in the lake. This is mainly what we all did until it was time for supper. After supper we had our evening campfire along with skits and games. Since there were only 2 Bears and 3 Webelos along on the trip, we combined the 2 dens for their skits which were "I gotta go Wee" and "The box". The Wolves preformed "Candy Store". This was the first introduction of preforming skits for the boys and everyone loved doing it. Afterwards we let the boys play flashlight tag since there were no other campers. Finally the long awaited 'lights out' came around 10pm.
On Sunday morning after breakfast and showers we held our closing ceremony including an Indian Prayer. Also Miss Nadine had made up some little awards during the weekend and handed them out. The awards for the weekend included:
"I tipped over the canoe"---Miss Deloris
"I am fish food"--Tony (the minnows in the water kept nibbling his toes)
